Cost Per Canadian December Recap
Did anything happen while we were away?

Presented by Point Blank
This week has already been one heck of a month, and the rest of the year promises to be just as hectic, with seven six races on the horizon that we’ll closely monitor.
Liberal Party Leadership Race to conclude before March 24, 2025
Ontario Provincial Election rumoured but not confirmed to be Spring, 2025
Nova Scotia Provincial Election on or before July 15, 2025
Nova Scotia held their election in 2024, which I had forgotten in the haze of January. Apologies for the error.
Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Election on or before October 14, 2025
Federal Election on or before October 20, 2025
Nunavut Territorial Election on or before October 27, 2025
Yukon Territorial Election on or before November 3, 2025
In particular, we’ll be on the lookout for an uptick in political ad spending from third parties and influence groups, especially those on the right, mirroring trends we’ve seen internationally with figures like Elon Musk spending heavily to support conservative causes in the US, UK and here in Canada.
Every week, we’ll share an update on the ads making waves and the biggest spenders nationally (usually on Thursday). In addition, we’ll share a recap like this one every month to break down spending in each province and territory where the polls will be open from the Atlantic to the Pacific.
Thank you for being a Cost Per Canadian reader, and here’s to 2025.
